What will you Choose if you get 3 options – 1). A Good Boss 2). A Good Organisation or 3) A Good Salary … it is very difficult to loose a good salary package or organisation which you always dreamed of joining.
Though, choosing a boss is also not in our hand, but few people get very lucky to have a boss who instead of micro-managing, gives you the freedom to decide your own results. A good boss will mentor you in everything – sometimes in personal matter as well. Trust me, a bad boss can make your life miserable. They do not trust, micro-manage and will do everything to stop you. And it is true that people quit their boss not the organisation.
There are some traits which differentiate a good boss from a bad boss – former drives people and later drives the turnover for the company. If one delegates authority, other one will micro-manage you, others and processes.
As Jack Ma said – “A good boss is better than a good company. A good boss would discipline you, train you, develop you.”
Companies give you the brand name on your resume, make your profile more glamorous with big names, but what matters the most is your learning. The kind of skills you have developed over the years – short term skills or long term skills, something which will help you across every organisation in a long run. And where does this thing come from? A good mentor / boss, somebody who will give you the opportunities to learn and grow and see your future 5 years ahead.
Next comes the Salary part, everybody wants to earn more and more…. a good salary brings a home to live, it fulfill your daily expenses, and raises your standard of living as well. It gives financial stability, but emotional stability comes when we know that the person you are reporting to is supportive.
